The #HelpMarawi charity concert held on December 25, at the Quezon City Memorial Circle in Quezon City, was a huge success drawing a diverse crowd — all for the benefit of the war-stricken families of the Marawi siege in Lanao del Sur in Mindanao.
Pinoy hip-hop collective Ex-Battalion put on quite the performance in front of a massive crowd of approximately 18,000 concert-goers, along with online sensations Bosx1ne, Skusta Clee, Flow-G, Emcee Rhenn, Brando and KentMNL.
The one-night spectacle had the crowd singing along to the group’s most popular tunes including “Hayaan Mo na Sila,” “No Game,” “Need You,” “Tell Me,” “Come With Me,” among others.
The concert was made possible by Amina Mangotara, Omar Mangotara, Kernel Gasa & Almar Batu-aan Mangotara, Alparadise Leasing Corporation, Cut Royale Salon, Al Delos Reyes & John Velez of Globalhoops Manila & Andy Wu of JUMP10.
Apart from a live performance of the hottest songs from the local hiphop scene, the show also paid homage to the Muslim community by performing a traditional ritual program and an Islamic prayer.
Several residents of Marawi also shared their first hand experiences of the atrocities that are still happening in the city.
Embracing the true spirit of Christmas, the Marawi residents were presented with a generous donation from multiple sponsors after the show. They also received clothes, canned goods and more cash donations from concert goers.
