Coming out of the 305, Jason Derulo has been a consistent force of the music scene. After writing songs for numerous artists such as Diddy, Sean Kingston, and Danity Kane, among others, he’s created a fun, party atmosphere that speaks volumes on what kind of artist he is: radio friendly, party ready, and, definitely, a hit with the ladies.
Starting out as a songwriter, he has definitely had a hand in crafting the sound of late 2000s to present day r&b and pop. His work in the industry has led to him connecting with Cash Money Records’ Brian “Birdman” Williams, 2 Chainz, Demi Lovato, Tyga, Lil’ Wayne, and Filipino-American singer, Cassie, just to name a few. All the writing for artists never deterred his love to come up with his own music, and in 2009, he released his debut album “Jason Derülo”. The umlaut in the album’s title pretty much proved to be a good sign: Derulo was going to be a rock star of his own accord.
With gleaming reviews, hit records, songwriting credits, and concert tours, Jason Derulo has definitely carved his niche. Songs like his debut single, “Whatcha Say”, “Wiggle”, featuring everyone’s favorite cuzz’n, Calvin “Snoop Dogg” Broadus, and the history making “Want to Want Me”, his career has truly been the definition of success. While comparisons to Usher, Chris Brown, and Trey Songz have come and gone, Derulo has proven to be his own man, writing all of his songs and having a hand in the production process, and having 13 multi platinum singles is proof of that. Since then, he has come to release 4 albums, all of which have sold quite well, despite of physical album sales slowly dwindling through the rise of online media platforms.
Described by renowned rap and R&B producer JR Rotem as having the most intense work ethic, Jason Derulo has proven time and time again that hard work, coupled with talent, is truly unbeatable. The boundless energy, the heartfelt soul, and the patience that he has cultivated throughout the years has truly paid off for him, and, pretty soon, we will all be witnesses to this. He will be coming to our shores on May 27th, 2016, at the Mall of Asia Arena, and, for sure, will be performing his heart out for all of us. Get ready to sing along, dance the night away, and peep the spectacle that is the man and the future legend, Jason Derulo.
